It all started out tit-for-tat, as the two sides held no more than a four point margin in the first quarter. We didn’t see too much of a different sight in the second quarter either, although Rapla had managed to get marginally ahead when they got off to an 8-2 start to the quarter. Nevertheless, the six-point lead didn’t hold long, and once again, we had a neck to neck race.
The Estonians finally managed to create some breathing space in the middle of the third quarter, as a 13-2 run finally pushed their lead to double-digits. Three quarters in, it was a nine point game.
AVIS Rapla started the final quarter on a high note, as they extended their margin to 15 after three minutes. Jurmala/Fenikss did not manage to cut into the deficit and went down for the fourth time.
Thomas van der Mars made another strong claim for the Player of the Week honors with an unbelievable performance under the rim. The big man scored 12 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, amassing an efficiency rating of 28.
Indrek Kajupank added 18 points, while Sven Kaldre and Domen Bratoz had 16 and 11, respectively.
Arturs Strelnieks was the leading scorer for Jurmala/Fenikss with 13 points, while Edgars Jeromanovs chipped in with 11. He was also responsible for half of the team’s assists – 6, but also committed 9 turnovers.
