Barsy KO'd by Nevezis in second half

KEDAINIAI – A (very late) season-opener was nothing to be too proud of for Barsy Atyrau. They battled fairly well for two quarters, but broke down after the break, as they suffered a blow-out 60-94 loss against Nevezis.

Nevezis got off to a great start, both offensively and defensively, as they jumped out to an 11-4 lead right out of the locker room. However, Barsy responded well, as an 11-0 run pushed them ahead and helped them finish the quarter up by one, while keeping their opponents scoreless for nearly five minutes.

The second quarter was much better for Nevezis, as they overtook their opponents and pushed for a five-point halftime lead. The small gap between the two clubs had us excited for the second half, but Nevezis made sure any attempts of an upset would be denied early.

Nevezis came firing right out of the gates in the second half, as their lead rose to 15 points. Then things took a swing from bad to worse for Barsy in the fourth quarter, as Nevezis opened up the quarter with six three-point plays (including five three-pointers), advancing their lead to an insurmountable 29 points and an eventual victory.

The duo of Ignas Vaitkus and Paulius Petrilevicius went all-out today, as they scored 22 and 21 points, respectively. Ivan Smiljanic added 15 points to the tally, while Toni Prostan was absolutely incredible getting his teammates involved, as he added 17 assists to his 7 point and 4 rebounds totals.

Trevin Parks was the leading scorer for Barsy with 19 points, while Mikhail Yevstigneev added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
