MINUTE OF SILENCE. The BBL held a minute of silence before every game on Friday and Saturday following the tragic events in Riga, when the collapse of a store’s roof took away the lives of 54 people. The teams and the administration of the league join the people of Latvia in mourning those lost and affected by the tragedy.
STILL UNDEFEATED. Pyrinto and Pieno zvaigzdes continue their successful campaign, as both teams improved to 6-0 this week.
WINLESS. Only two teams are now left standing with a zero in their win column after Tyco Rapla managed to squeak past Tallinna Kalev 76-70 victory. Both Liepaja/Triobet and Maks&Moorits now have five losses each.
TOP GEAR. Pyrinto set a season high for most points scored this week. Twice. To start off, the Fins trampled over Valmiera 106-52, while recording 143 ranking points – also a new season high. Later on in the week, they beat their own record with a 117-point outing against Tarvas.
THE RETURN. Mindaugas Lukauskis returned to BBL action after four years of absence. The former Lietuvos Rytas forward averaged 21.5 points for Prienai Tonybet his opening week. Lukauskis has already fired up 22 three-pointers in two games, getting 10 to fall.
PLAYMAKING. Derek Needham showed off some decent passing skills in Siauliai’s win against Parnu. The pointguard dished out 11 assists, thus setting a new season record in the league.
Benjamin Raymond of Pyrinto is this week’s MVP, having averaged 20 points, 8.7 rebounds and 26.3 ranking points over 3 games.
Former Los Angeles Laker Derrick Caracter is right behind him with a single-game outing of 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for Pieno zvaigzdes.
Ilmars Bergmanis takes the third spot of the top five with two great performances. The Barons guard averaged 19 points and 5 assists leading to 23.5 ranking points per game.
Dovydas Redikas finishes fourth this week with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 23 ranking points in Pasvalys’ game against Juventus.
The great performance from Janar Talts’ helped TU/Rock edge Prienai Tonybet in overtime. Talts had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
