Despite a close, 78-72 loss to Bayern Munich this week, Lietkabelis still have some hope of qualifying for the next round. However, they will need to win both their next games, and hope for a Bayern Munich victory against Khimki. To make things worse, Lietkabelis have to win against Khimki by more than 8 points.
VTB United League
After losing once again, Kalev/Cramo have now been officially been ruled out of the VTB United League Play-offs. The previously mentioned Khimki gave the Estonians a bruising and took an easy 57-81 victory at home. Mickell Gladness’ 12 points and 6 rebounds was the best performance coach Alar Varrak received from his squad. Kalev/Cramo will now join the Triobet BBL starting from the Eight-Finals.
Basketball Champions League
A fourth place finish guaranteed Juventus a spot among the 24 best teams in the tournament despite a loss against the number two seed from Group D, Sidigas Avellino. The Lithuanians lost by double-digits 64-74 after going cold in the final quarter. They now await their opponent in the Play-offs.
Ventspils were unable to secure a win once again, and were brutally defeated against PAOK, as the Greeks handed them a 54-84 loss. Nevertheless, Ventspils finished with a 7-7 record and that makes them one of the four best fifth-placed teams, meaning they qualify for the next round. Neither of the teams in the Basketball Champions League will be joining the Triobet BBL this season.
FIBA Europe Cup
Despite a solid performance in the second round of the FIBA Europe Cup, Vytautas have been knocked out of the tournament after a do-or-die game gone wrong. With just one team advancing from each group, a 61-75 loss against Telekom Baskets meant their journey was over. Alongside University of Tartu, TTU and Kalev/Cramo, they will be joining the Triobet BBL now.
