Jekabpils' sixth win comes easy

JEKABPILS – Another crushing defeat for Borisfen, this time at the hands of Jekabpils. The Belorussians continue to struggle to put up a fight against any opponent and had to face the consequences – it was a huge 46-94 win for the home side, pushing their record to 6-2.

You could say Jekabpils got all their building blocks for a win ready in the first quarter, as they left their opponents dazed and confused with an enormous run in the second half of the first quarter. The Latvians were still down by two points at the 5 minute mark, but forced six turnovers in the next five minutes and finished the quarter high on an 18-0 run.

Borisfen might have hoped the start of the second quarter would bring in a fresh breeze, but Jekabpils didn’t become complacent and expanded the run to 29-1. At that time it was apparent, there was no return from a 27-point deficit for Borisfen.

The margin reached 30 points by the end of the third quarter, and the fourth was merely a formality, but Jekabpils made sure they had some fun. They made 4 three-pointers to stretch the lead to 42 three minutes into the final period and finally reached the 50-point mark with seconds to go in the game.

Jurijs Aleksejevs had a great night, scoring 16 points, while also adding 9 rebounds and 4 assists to the tally. Kristaps Miglinieks added another 16 points, while Janis Antrops and Edgars Stelmahers scored 13 points apiece. Roberts Stumbris ended the game with 12.

Maksim Kozlovets was the only player to stand out in Borisfen’s line-up, as he had 12 points.
