Juventus brush aside Caspiy

UTENA ‒ In Group C action, Juventus brushed aside Caspiy for a 90-56 victory after a powerful second-half performance to improve to a 3-6 record.

It was the last game of the regular season for the visitors from Kazakhstan, who finished the first stage of the competition with a 3-0 mark.


The hosts ran away to a double-digit advantage already in the first quarter, finishing it with a 23-13 lead. Juventus led by as many as 14 points in the second period, but Caspiy closed the gap to 40-33 by the halftime break.

The guests went on an 8-4 run to start the third quarter, making it a one-point game at 41-44, but that was as close as Caspiy managed to get to the Lithuanian hosts.

Juventus went on a massive 22-5 run to finish the third period, deciding the outcome of the game even before the start of the final quarter.

Karolis Petrukonis paced the winners with 18 points, Edgaras Stanionis scored 15 points and stole the ball six times, while Averon Matthews and Aidas Viskontas finished the evening with 12 points each.

Caspiy had only two players in double figures, with Kris Richard scoring a team-high 16 points and Pavel Mihkeev chipped in with 12.
