Pyrinto defeat Rapla, make it six in a row

RAPLA – Pyrinto’s dream start of the season continued, as the Finnish side extended their winning streak to six games, defeating Tyco Rapla 81-65.

The team from Tampere still hasn’t lost a single game, while Rapla, now 1-4, are quickly falling behind in Group A.

 

Like usually, Pyrinto started the game strong and went on a 10-0 run after allowing the host’s leader Martin Dorbek to open the scoring with a couple of free-throws.

The visitors had a 19-10 lead after the first quarter and extended the gap to double-digits by the halftime break, with a triple by Antero Lehto and a free-throw by Osku Heinonen to make it 37-26.

However, Rapla won a 9-0 stretch in the third quarter to cut the deficit to a single point, with the scoreboard showing 47-48 after H Ruut’s lay-up.

Pyrinto started the final period with a 57-55 lead, but Andre Parn quickly tied things up at 57-57. At this point, the guests went on a 20-0 run to decide the outcome of the game.

Kelvin Lewis and Benjamin Raymond had 16 points each for the winners, with Damon Williams and Petri Heinonen collecting 13 points apiece.

For Rapla, Martin Paasoja had a team-high 16 points, Ziga Fifolt scored 11 points and Andre Parn added 10 points and six rebounds.
