Triobet BBL Weekly Review: Volume 7

Just three games played this week, but that doesn‘t mean we didn‘t have some special performances in the Triobet BBL. One of those special moments was a new season record for most rebounds in a game being set. BBL.net keeps everything in place with the seventh volume of the Triobet BBL Weekly Review.

MVP. Thomas van der Mars had done it again. A third Player of the Week award for the Dutchman after he put up an immense performance with 12 points, 15 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks and 2 assists. This performance helped AVIS Rapla win for the fourth time in five games.

RECORD. Denis Krestinin would have claimed the MVP title this week had his team outperformed Parnu. The Lithuanian big man was absolutely incredible fighting in the paint, as he broke this season’s BBL record for most rebounds. Krestinin tore down 18 boards, while also accounting for 15 of Barons’ points.

OUT. The first stage of the FIBA Europe Cup is done, and three Baltic clubs have already been knocked out. Siauliai, TLU/Kalev and Tartu finished the season with a combined record of 0-14, as they were bottomfeeders of their respective groups.

THRILLER. The game between Jekabpils and TTU took an unexpected turn in the final quarter, as the Estonians raced back into contention. With three minutes remaining, it was still a 12-point game for Jekabpils, but TTU mounted an impressive run to bring the game within one-shot range. Nevertheless, they just ran out of time and Jekabpils squeezed by with a win.

COMEBACK. In the other game of that same day, we did see an even greater comeback. With two minutes remaining Barons still had the upper hand with a 9-point advantage, yet Port of Parnu did not let up, and started hitting everything. Literally, they did not miss a single shot. The game went on to OT, where Parnu proved to be the better side.
